All We Can Save: Truth, Courage, and Solutions for the Climate Crisis

Carbon sequestration is the process of capturing and storing carbon dioxide; we can facilitate this process naturally by encouraging forest regrowth and plant photosynthesis and by abstaining from overtilling soil.

Climate migration is when people are forced to flee their homes due to sudden natural disasters or other impacts of climate change such as sea level rise, extreme weather, and drought or water scarcity.

Community mothering refers to the idea that you nurture not only your own children or family members but the community around you. This hasn’t exclusively been practiced by women but most often has. It contributes to the development of emotional intelligence in a community and its children.

Environmental racism is a type of systemic racism in which climate change and fossil fuel emissions disproportionately affect communities of color. This can involves a community’s proximity to sources of toxic waste, like mines, landfills, power plants, coal plants, and major roads. Because of their proximity to these toxic environments and pollutants, communities of color and low-income communities experience higher rates of health problems.

Frontline communities are one aspect of environmental racism; these communities are those that experience the immediate impacts of climate change. Frontline communities are typically communities of color, Indigenous, and/or low-income.

The Green New Deal is US proposal that calls for public policy to address climate change in an equitable manner. It attempts to stimulate the American people economically while also transitioning to clean, renewable energy. 

Greenwashing is a kind of advertisement that relies on (usually deceptive) claims or suggestions about a product’s sustainability. This makes products more appealing to customers who are trying to be more conscious of their environmental footprint. Companies therefore continue to make money despite not changing business practices that may be harmful to the environment.
